One of my favorite things about college has been the fact that it opens all kinds of opportunities to travel or take little trips. Odd part is I’d think that being home people would be more down for things like that vs students who live at a school and are usually gathering all their change to have a good weekend in their own town. Especially considering most of the people who stayed home aren’t carrying the kinds of course loads that people are in SB. That fact not withstanding, even with a full time job and a full load of courses my friends at school manage to be more adventurous than they are at home.
And I know it’s not like that everywhere, maybe it’s just my friends? I, admittedly, don’t have real relationships with a lot of people at home anymore but still, it doesn’t really feel like I’m missing out here. Just kind of seems like nothing is going on. I can’t wait to move out of the valley again.
The only part of that that bums me out is the fact that people are sooo clicky here. Nobody wants to go out and do things without the same car full of people and people will try their hardest to talk their friends out of doing something just because they’re not interested in it. At least when people went to raves there was a sense of adventure, and I totally get that part of peoples lives has passed but it doesn’t seem like anything took it’s place. At least now that people are starting to turn 21 they’re clubbing.
I just hate to see people waste these few years of actual freedom where you pretty much come and go as you please but don’t have to run a household.
tl;dr I need friends who are more adventurous.
